The Fund was the lead investor in a Series C financing for Ambrx, a US Lifesciences
company that has developed a patent-protected technology for optimising protein-based drugs. Annual
sales of protein therapeutics are expected to reach approximately US$60 billion by 2010, but unmodified
proteins are frequently badly adapted for use, often being broken down too rapidly in the body. Ambrx's
world-class technology allows proteins to be substantially improved in very controllable and predictable ways,
thereby increasing their commercial potential.

Serentis is a new UK Lifesciences company being established by the Fund along with 2 other investors, in
collaboration with a management team taken from another successful Lifesciences company. Serentis' strategy is to
identify opportunities to develop new products based on drugs that are already used for other indications. This is
a strategy that Serentis' management team have successfully pursued together in the past.

Pharmakodex Limited is a UK based speciality pharmaceuticals company. The company was spun out from Vectura Group
plc and Unilever plc in May 2006 to exploit proprietary formulation and delivery technology from both parents. The
company's product portfolio focuses on improving existing drugs to provide faster acting, more convenient and more
effective products, protected by strong intellectual property.
